This past weekend I stayed in San José. Thursday evening was the start of my weekend. I decided to stay home, talk with the host family, Skype my real family, and relax (catch up on sleep). The next morning I woke up around 10am and did homework all day (Que Chiva!). But then after hours of homework I headed to the biggest mall in Costa Rica, located in Escazu. It's called the Multi-Plaza Mall. At the mall we explored the stores. They had a forever 21 that had two floors. We ate at an Chilis, I felt like we were in the United States again.
After the mall, I once again had a relaxed night where I caught up on my TV shows, talked to my host family and relaxed. Sometimes it's good to just do nothing haha. The next morning, Saturday, I woke up on the earlier side because the group was heading to San José for the festivals. We got to the main city and realized the festivals were scattered and were a bit small. Instead we just walked around and went souvenir shopping! It was a fun day :) The weather was absolutely beautiful! We also ran into the amazing cake shop where all their cakes had Disney themes!
That evening I got home and my host mom told me my host sister was having friends over for game night. She told me they would be playing Cranium and Pictionary in Espanol of course. I invited my good friend Dani from my trip to join me while we played the games. The other night was by far one of the best nights I have had in Costa Rica. I actually interacted with Ticos and their friends. I also made a friend who plays soccer nearby and I plan on joining her this Tuesday!Everyone was so competitive while playing (including me of course). This game night reminded me of my friends and family at home! I always host game nights with my friends. My host parents joined in the games, my host dad even played on a team! I truly lucked out with the amazing host family I have received! They are so welcoming and I feel at home here :) We played until 12am and then people started heading home.
The next morning I was so tired... I woke up around 9am. The morning went by fast with homework and eating. The next thing I knew it was 2pm and I needed to head to San José to see Saprissa vs La Liga partido! The game started around 4:30. This was supposed to be a good game because these teams were number 2 and 3 in the division. The game itself was a little slow. Neither of the teams won, but it was fun watching all the fan react to the game. Everyone was energetic and they sang many cheers I couldn't understand. To me the game went by pretty quickly. It has been so long since I've watched soccer games and I miss it a lot! I also miss playing a lot too... so hopefully this Tuesday I end up playing some soccer!
Overall I had a great weekend :) I can't believe I only have one month left here in Costa Rica and then I am off to the U.S.!
